I wanted to jazz up the purple picture that went with last post with a word bubble. So I typed in, “No rocky road ice cream? There’s no point in going on…”
Then it struck me that actually, that’s the reverse of what’s happening. When someone says, “I can live without being married” they’re saying, “There is a point in going on, even though I’m not getting what I want.”
In a way, moaning and crying and being miserable because you’re single is closer to self-murder; you’re killing the best years of your life yearning for that which you don’t have. Saying, “I will go on, I can go on, and I’ll even enjoy it, thank you,” is living.
