In the spirit of my recommended response for people who say “im yirtza Hashem by you“, and based on the reader response to “You’re single? I’m so sorry…” I would like to recommend that the next time someone acts sensitively toward you simply because you’re single, put an arm around their shoulder, let your voice go soft, and say, with the utmost sympathy:
“I’m so sorry that you have trouble coming to terms with my being single. Is there any way I can help? Do you want to talk about it?”
(And send me a picture of their face…)
what’s wrong with someone saying “im yirtzeh hashem by you”?
but that IS a funny comeback…
lol. If that doesn’t knock shidduchim off…. Just Kidding!
This is the best Shidduch blog. I’m totally addicted.
Dreamer, visit the post (via the hyperlink) to find out. The comments, if not the post itself, will be enlightening…
Thanks, Adam! I am too.
I can imagine you doing it… but I could never keep a straight face…
That would’ve been alot of fun….
And I look for new posts here all the time- so keep blogging!
Mickey Mouse sent this photo of her friend after she tried the above single’s shidduch strategy.
Love the retort…not sure if I could pull it off though. But I may try…
My teenage students would respond with something like this: “IY”H by your mother!!” Now if you say that say that to those well-meaning, annoying souls, they won’t get the diss, but you’ll leave them somewhat stumped which is always fun.
Responding to commenter #1, “im yirtzeh hashem by you” is offensive because it’s implying that there’s a possibility of of “im lo yirtzeh hashem.”
I’d love to do that, but I’d never pull it off with a straight face.
do u delete the comments who disagree with you?
how come all ur comments are always in agreement
‘justcurious’ may be my new favorite commenter
…or you, theirs, more likely.
