Random follow-up musing about NEF #13 – I believe she’s proof that you can be a perfectly turned out Flatbush meidel, from the tip of the ballet flats to the top of the ever-present bump, and still have to date close to four-dozen guys and stay single past the age of 22 before getting engaged.
…and if that’s the case, why bother?

Exactly. Be yourself – most guys can tell when someone is dressing up to be seen, and it’s not as much of a turn on as the young lady may think.

Of course, you make a good point. Due to having the right appearance, she received many suggestions. Due to having the wrong personality, perhaps, she had to keep on dating.

Are we insinuating that girls only get dressed up to get dates? Don’t you know any married people who want to look good? Are we dropping >2K on wigs just so that our not yet born kids will get dates? Please.

No, you’re also dropping >2k on wigs so that your already-born kids will get dates. By the time you have to worry about your not-yet-born kids (aka third trimester), you’ll have to drop >3k on wigs.

Bad4. Thanks that’s what I was waiting to hear. I honestly feel that some people are just a weee bit jealous of those “perfect” looking “Brooklyn” girls and turn it around and mock them. I for one think some of these shidduch maidels are spectacular looking.

I didn’t want to say she had bad personality. Some people just have personalities that not every regular person can handle. These people are special and they need second part to be special too. That’s harder to find…

I didn’t either mean she had a bad personality. I meant “wrong” as in mismatched for the look. Or anyway, the general notion of what goes with the look, which tends toward the ditzier side.
