I once asked some savants about how “Yichus” fits into the scope of things. I got two good answers:
1) It’s like a blanket. If there’s a mensch underneath it, then the blanket can warm him.
2) It like zeroes; If there’s a “one”, then the zeroes are significant. If there is no “one”, the zeroes just remain zero.
