Off Topic: NaNo

November is National Novel Writing Month. The goal: write about 2,300 words a day toward your 50k word novel.

If you have a novel lurking in your head somewhere, this is the month to get it out.

And if you do publish something after this reminder? Remember me in the dedications.

*Disclaimer: See comments for details on how publishing a novel may affect your shidduch chances.

    1. The novel will reflect something about you and how you think. Expect your prospective mother-in-laws to do Freudian analyses of the text to find out about you.

    2. Life doesn’t begin until you’re married. What’s this – starting a career as a novelist?

    3. Publishing a novel shows ambition and gumption. You’ll intimidate the guys.

  2. This is probably how those serial stories in popular Jewish newspapers got written… Yeah, I’ll just start writing x amount of words… no, I have no idea where I’m going with this… and when I get tired I’ll just end it all.

It probably helps to begin with the end in mind.
Hey, why don’t you write a *good* serial novel for the papers? Dare, double dare…

  4. Wasn’t avoiding blogs, I was just away from a computer (and therefore the internet) for a week. But now I’m back and better than ever! πŸ˜›
